Abstract
The clinical effects of Pefloxacin were observed in 30 cases of various severe gynecologic infections from July to December, 1989.
The results were as follows
1. The clinical therapeutic efficacy was 100.0%(15 cases) in acute pelvic inflammatory disease, 90.0%(10 cases) in acute pyelonephritis and 75.0%(3 cases) in postoperative wound infection. Therefore the overall cure rate of Pefloxacin was 93.3%.
2. There were no significant changes in WBC count, platelet count, prothrombin time, serum creatinine, SGPT and alkaline phosphatase during and after treatment.
3. There were mild side effects in 3 patients, 2 had gastrointestinal symptoms and the other had neurologic symptoms but no serious side reaction was observed.
These results demonstrated that pefloxacin can be used effectively in the treatment of severe gynecologic infections.
